Owens, Tarnowski Honored

ASHLAND, OH- Ashland University head football coach Lee Owens has been honored as the Division II region three Coach of the Year.  Owens took the Eagles to a record of 11-2 and an outright GLIAC championship and the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.  Under Owens, the Eagles have advanced to the post-season five times.  In 14 seasons at AU Owens overall record stands at 109-46.

Also, Ashland University quarterback Travis Tarnowski has become the 17th Ashland University football player to earn All-American first team honors.  This past year Tarnowski passed for 3,044 yards and 31 touchdowns completing 59% of his passes.  This past season Tarnowski became Ashland's all-time passing leader with 11,321 yards and 111 touchdowns.  It also marks the third year in a row the Eagles have had a first-team All-American the last two being tight end now Chicago Bear Adam Shaheen.
